Cockatoo Garden/ Environment Committee Meeting Report
The Environment Committee had a stunning day for its third meeting on Wednesday afternoon!
We heard from Matt and Neal, who had met with Bob Gretton from the Wolery to discuss ideas about the long-term management of the bamboo forest.
Matt also shared some great solutions to some of the school’s drainage issues.
Via and Bruce also updated us on the maintenance of the Healing Hut.
The committee then had a walk and talk with Natalie (Charlie’s Mum, with her Wilson Inlet Catchment Committee hat on!) about design ideas for the cockatoo food garden and the placement of 200 seedlings, fencing and interpretive signage. We agreed on locating the new bed between the rope swing area and the bamboo forest, and we will link the bed to a bush tucker garden planned near the Healing Hut. The committee aims to get the students planting while we still have plenty of rain, so keep your eyes peeled as the busy work of marking out, mulching and planting in this area begins!
We have a diverse range of parents, teachers and staff who make up our committee.
If you would like to be a part of our team, please email Renee at renee@goldenhill.wa.edu.au or come to our next meeting on Wednesday, Week 2 next term.
Hope to see you there!
