Reconciliation Action Plan

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge, and celebrate, that Golden Hill Steiner School (GHSS) is located on Bibbulmun-Menang Noongar Boodja (Country).
We pay our respects to local Elders and Traditional Custodians of this Land, past, present, and future, as carriers of the ancestral knowledge of local culture, language and lore.
We acknowledge and pay our respects to the living community of trees, plants, fungi, insects, animals, and birds with whom we share this locality on Noongar Boodja.

Vision for Reconciliation

The Golden Hill Steiner School community strives to build a respectful culture of reconciliation and caring for Country by:

  • extending and deepening relationships with local Noongar and First Nations Elders and their families
  • acting intentionally and following cultural protocols as appropriate
  • learning about and valuing Noongar cultures and histories, including knowledge of seasonal changes over the cycle of the year
  • working towards greater inclusivity and diversity within the school community, including First Nations students and families.

At Golden Hill Steiner School, we endeavour to share the wisdom and knowledge received from Elders in ethical and culturally appropriate ways and seek common ground between Noongar and Steiner pedagogy. In finding ways of being and learning on Country, we strive to educate students, staff and families to have a deep and nuanced understanding of First Nations peoples and cultures, and to work towards a truly sustainable and reconciled future.
